On Sunday, February 27, 2011, Mitchell’s Place will host its fifth annual fundraiser at the Country Club of Birmingham “A
Night at the Oscars” coincides with the broadcast of the 83rd Academy Awards and promises to be an extraordinary event.
Proceeds from this event will support educational
and therapeutic services for children and young adults with Autism
Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Autism is a lifelong developmental disorder characterized by marked impairments in social and communication skills. Current
prevalence studies by the CDC estimate that autism affects 1 in every
110 individuals, making it the fastest growing developmental disorder in
the United States. Due to this unprecedented growth, appropriate services are lacking, leaving many families frustrated in their search for help.
